About Sunrise

Sunrise is an asset gateway on Solana that brings external tokens onto the network as canonical, native assets. It uses Wormhole's Native Token Transfers (NTT) framework, which means assets are not wrapped or locked in the traditional sense but retain their original metadata and can be traded directly in Solana's DeFi ecosystem, including aggregators like Jupiter and wallets like Phantom.

Its core value proposition is solving two problems: fragmented liquidity and multiple wrapped versions of the same asset. By designating a single canonical mint, Sunrise gives the market one reference point, so protocols, market makers, and users can coordinate around a unified standard. This eliminates the confusion and inefficiency of having several bridged representations of the same token.

Another key differentiator is "day-one market formation." Sunrise does not just list a token; it ensures that when an asset arrives, it already has routing infrastructure, liquidity, and trading pairs. This is different from merely being "bridgeable," where a token exists but has no active market. Sunrise compresses the time between a token's availability and its actual usability in trading.

In the past six months (March to September 2026), Sunrise has expanded significantly. Notable listings include SUI, TAO, and PONS. The SUI listing was its eighth major deployment, bringing over $545 million in 30-day volume and helping 21,000 holders diversify beyond Solana-native assets. TAO, the Bittensor token, was introduced at Solana's Accelerate USA conference, making AI-related assets a native part of Solana DeFi. PONS, a Robinhood Chain launchpad token, was added as meme-stock pairs dominated the market.

Two illustrative cases highlight the difference Sunrise makes. HYPE was bridgeable on Solana since September 2025, but only after Sunrise listed it in late January 2026 did it form a real market, recording $102 million in volume in its first seven days. Similarly, SPCX, a tokenized SpaceX share, launched on Nasdaq and Solana on the same day via Sunrise, achieving $50 million in volume within 24 hours and $100 million in four days, with prices closely tracking the Nasdaq reference. As of mid-June 2026, Sunrise had facilitated $3.5 billion in cumulative onchain volume across 14 million trades and 221,000 wallets.

Updated: Sep 4, 2026

Sunrise launched on November 23, 2025, as a cross-chain asset gateway built by Wormhole Labs, with Monad's MON as its first listing, enabling same-day trading on Solana. On June 12, 2026, Sunrise facilitated the tokenized equity SPCX on SpaceX's IPO day, generating over $50M in volume within 24 hours, marking a pivotal entry of real-world assets. The HYPE case demonstrated that bridging alone does not create a market—Sunrise's routing and liquidity infrastructure took five months to form a deep market. By mid-June 2026, Sunrise had processed $3.5B in onchain volume across 14M trades and 221K wallets, establishing itself as the canonical gateway for external assets on Solana.
