About Stacked
Stacked is a Web3 video and live-streaming platform aimed at game and content creators. It started as a "watch party" app and later shifted toward decentralized streaming. Creators can stream gameplay, host watch parties, and chat with fans. The core approach is to issue governance tokens to creators, giving them ownership in the platform and reducing reliance on big tech platforms.
The problem it tackles is that on traditional streaming platforms, the platform controls content and traffic, while creators who build audiences often receive unfair compensation and may be arbitrarily demonetized or banned. Stacked uses governance tokens to let creators take part in platform decisions and negotiate better revenue sharing, aiming to allocate more value back to content producers.
Tech-wise, the platform doesn't put everything on-chain yet but uses conventional Web2 tech to preserve user experience, adding decentralization through token mechanics. No major negative information was found in the past two years. However, there is no reliable public reporting about its development from March to September 2026, so its latest status is unclear.
Founded in March 2021 by Alex Lin, Stacked pivoted from a watch-party app to a Web3 livestreaming platform, aiming to disrupt Twitch by rewarding creators with governance tokens and community ownership.
In August 2022, Stacked closed a $12.9M Series A led by Pantera Capital, with participation from Z Venture Capital, GFR Fund, and angels including Carl Pei. The funding provided 5-7 years of runway, enabling expansion into Latin America, India, and Southeast Asia.
A strategic decision was to build on a Web2 tech stack while integrating token-based ownership, prioritizing user experience over full decentralization. The launch of the Valhalla NFT collection further extended its ecosystem into gaming and streetwear communities, cementing its creator-first positioning.
