About SpringSui
SpringSui is a liquid staking protocol native to the Sui blockchain. Its first liquid staking token, sSUI, represents staked SUI and can be freely used across DeFi applications. The core feature is instant unstaking: users can redeem sSUI for SUI in a single transaction without waiting for the standard unstaking period, which typically takes multiple epochs.
The main market pain point it addresses is the liquidity lock-up inherent in traditional staking. Standard staking requires a waiting period before funds can be withdrawn, making it difficult for users to quickly respond to market conditions. SpringSui solves this by enabling immediate redemption, improving capital efficiency while still earning staking rewards. The protocol also allows teams to create their own LSTs permissionlessly on its standard.
In the past six months (March to September 2026), SpringSui has maintained roughly $45-60 million in total value locked. However, several concerns exist. The protocol shares its team and codebase with the lending platform Suilend, creating correlated risk if a vulnerability is found. Its token captures almost no protocol fees, and its valuation relative to TVL is considered weak. Additionally, as a permissionless standard, there is a risk of low-quality or malicious LSTs being created under its framework, potentially confusing users.
SpringSui, launched by Suilend, is a new liquid staking standard on Sui built on SIP-31 and SIP-33 protocol upgrades. Its first token, sSUI, enables users to stake SUI and receive a liquid token. A key milestone is the implementation of SIP-33, which allows instant unstaking for the entire supply, eliminating depeg risks and strengthening economic security. Suilend also open-sourced the SpringSui framework, enabling developers to create custom LSTs at no cost. Looking ahead, the roadmap includes a platform for anyone to create and manage their own LST, further driving liquid staking adoption across the Sui ecosystem.
Key developments over the past six months: SpringSui remains Sui’s leading liquid staking protocol, with TVL of ~$52.52M, up 17.5% in 30 days . Its core advantage is instant unstaking enabled by SIP-33, allowing sSUI to be redeemed for SUI in one transaction, significantly reducing depeg risk . The SpringSui standard allows third parties to deploy LSTs permissionlessly and at no cost; ecosystem TVL is ~$590K . The protocol is audited by Zellic and OtterSec and carries a B (low-risk) grade, though risks include team/code concentration with Suilend and cascading liquidations of sSUI collateral under stress .
Future focus/roadmap: The official focus is making the SpringSui standard Sui’s LST infrastructure, enabling permissionless LST deployment by teams, while maintaining sustainability and safety through instant unstaking and a minimum 1 bp redemption fee . No more detailed public roadmap is currently available.
SpringSui's co-founders and core executives come primarily from its developer team, Suilend. Rooter, founder of Suilend, leads SpringSui's launch and drives liquid staking growth on Sui. 0xripleys, a Suilend engineer, created the SpringSui standard and led protocol upgrades SIP-31 and SIP-33, enabling instant unstaking. These individuals form the core leadership.
