About SpoonOS
SpoonOS is an operating system for Web3 agents, offering a framework to build, deploy and orchestrate autonomous agents: a built-in vector database turns on-chain and off-chain data into searchable memory, an extended model context protocol connects external tools, privacy relies on zero-knowledge proofs, fully homomorphic encryption and trusted execution, the identity layer combines decentralised identifiers with verifiable model inference, and execution supports both reasoning loops and graph orchestration. It targets agents' lack of on-chain identity, trusted collaboration and privacy.
Packaging identity, memory, tool calls and privacy computing into one runtime is the difference from general agent frameworks, at the cost of many components and complex integration, while ZKML and FHE overhead limits real deployment. A first Web3 skills challenge started on 3 February 2026, soliciting usable plugins for its skills marketplace with rewards, and an ERC-8004 integration module was open-sourced to give agents on-chain identity. The ecosystem is still at developer education, with few applications actually running.
In April 2025, SpoonOS was announced by Neo as a universal AI agent operating system for Web3, aiming to build a "sentient economy." It officially launched the same month, introducing a $2 million developer incentive program that laid the foundation for ecosystem growth.
In July 2025, the SpoonOS Enhancement Proposal (SEP) mechanism was initiated for technology validation and identification of core contributors, establishing a community-driven governance framework.
In September 2025, the Skills Micro Challenge and Scoop AI global hackathon were launched to encourage developers to co-build skills.
In October 2025, the Web3-native Skills Marketplace went live, enabling modular skill reuse, on-chain attribution, and monetization, serving as an infrastructure layer for agent development.
These milestones mark SpoonOS's evolution from concept launch to gradual refinement of ecosystem infrastructure, with long-term significance in establishing scalable developer collaboration and value distribution mechanisms.
SpoonOS launched the first Web3-native Skills Marketplace on January 29, 2026, registering modular capabilities - smart-contract interaction, wallet operations and on-chain data queries - as reusable, verifiable Skills that the community can rate and reuse. It also open-sourced the ERC-8004 integration module spoon-did, becoming one of the first AI operating systems to fully integrate ERC-8004, giving AI agents an on-chain identity (DID), portable reputation and verifiable execution on NeoX. Part of its previously announced $2 million fund supports developer grants and education programs.
Future strategy and roadmap: On strategy, SpoonOS proceeds in phases: after the Skills Marketplace it will add cross-chain Skill interoperability, advanced governance for NEO holders (voting on marketplace upgrades, fee structures and Skill review standards), official IDE tools and plugins for mainstream coding environments, and treasury or ecosystem-pool grants for foundational and innovative Skills; longer term it plans an Agent Marketplace where complete agents assembled from Skills can be shared and monetized, advancing the 'Sentient Economy'.
