About Spire
Spire Labs, a modular Layer 3 network developer, completed a $7 million seed round led by Maven 11 Capital and Anagram, marking early institutional validation for its based L3 architecture.
In April 2025, Spire released the first public testnet demo of a based L3 appchain, achieving synchronous composability level 1—reading data directly from its underlying L2 without a centralized sequencer. This demonstrated free oracle data access and eliminated bridge friction, a milestone toward interoperable appchains secured by Ethereum.
Over the past six months, Spire launched synchronous composability via Pylon, enabling synchronous read/write and cross-layer execution between L3 appchains and settlement layers without bridges, addressing appchain fragmentation. This supports cross-chain swaps, shared liquidity, and synchronous lending, while allowing custom execution/ordering and independent scaling. Other products include DA Builder, Full Send, and BaiBai.cx. Future focus: based sequencing, native Ethereum interoperability, subsecond preconfirmations, and a technical whitepaper.
Profiles of Spire Labs co-founders and core executives:
Kaito Yanai: Co-founder, Japanese, holds a BS in Computer Network from Waseda University. Co-founded Spire Labs in Dec 2023, focusing on based sequencing modular L3 research.
mteam.eth (Matthew Edelen): Co-founder, currently CPO and Strategy Lead, working full-time on product and strategy, driving Spire's based appchains.
Antony Denyer: CTO, formerly led MetaMask's Transaction Lifecycle team at Consensys, with deep expertise in Ethereum infrastructure, MEV protection, and block building. Now oversees engineering and protocol development at Spire Labs.
