About Ritual
Ritual is a decentralized AI compute platform that connects AI models with blockchain infrastructure. Its core business involves enabling AI inference and training on-chain through a network of compute providers, with a focus on verifiable execution and cryptographic proofs.
The platform addresses two key market pain points: the centralization of AI compute power in a few large corporations, and the lack of trust and transparency in AI model outputs. By decentralizing the infrastructure, Ritual aims to give developers and users more control over AI systems, while making it possible to verify that a model was executed correctly.
In the past six months (February to August 2026), Ritual has made progress on its testnet, which supports on-chain AI inference and a persistent agent architecture. The team has also been developing its execution-aware consensus mechanism, which separates synchronous and asynchronous transaction lanes to handle compute-heavy workloads more efficiently. Additionally, Ritual has been working on scheduled transactions and validity constraints to give users finer control over how their transactions are processed, moving beyond simple inclusion to more sophisticated ordering and execution guarantees.
Ritual is a distributed AI computing platform building an AI-native Layer 1 blockchain. Key milestones:
Project Launch (2023): The team began developing a blockchain architecture designed specifically for AI, addressing the challenge of running AI models efficiently on existing chains.
Infernet Release: As the first product, Infernet brought AI to on-chain applications, allowing smart contracts to access AI models for inference via a unified API, laying the foundation for future development.
Ritual Chain Testnet & Foundation (November 2024): Officially launched the AI-focused Layer 1 blockchain testnet and established the independent Ritual Foundation responsible for education, community, and financial support.
Architectural Innovations: Ritual Chain introduced several core innovations—Node Specialization allows nodes to select workloads based on computational capabilities; EVM++ is compatible with EVM while extending AI computing capabilities; Sidecars support heavy computations like AI inference; Modular Computational Integrity supports multiple proof methods; Verifiable Provenance protects model creators' rights; Resonance pricing provides a unified market for heterogeneous computing; Symphony consensus acceleration enables "execute once, verify many."
Community Ecosystem Development (2025): Launched the Ambassador Program, Ritual Quests, and 21 Days of Prompts, followed by the Builders Program in December 2025.
Genesis 1000 (June 2026): Opened early deployment of autonomous agents to participants, marking an important stage toward mainnet evolution.
Over the past six months, Ritual has advanced its decentralized AI compute platform with the public launch of its Ritual Chain testnet, providing developers with RPC endpoints, a block explorer, and a faucet. The network introduces an EVM++ architecture, enabling native precompiles for LLM inference, HTTP requests, autonomous agent execution, and scheduled tasks, alongside TEE-based verifiable compute. This shifts AI workloads from off-chain oracles to on-chain primitives, allowing smart contracts to directly call models and external data.
Looking ahead, Ritual’s roadmap focuses on mainnet deployment and token economics. The team has not disclosed a specific mainnet date but emphasizes sustained developer adoption of AI-native features, including persistent agents and verifiable off-chain computation. The RITUAL token will serve as the testnet currency, with no confirmed tradable value or airdrop. Future priorities include scaling TEE attestation, refining gas mechanics, and expanding the operator set, while positioning Ritual as a foundational layer for AI-agent economies.

Niraj Pant: Co-Founder at Ritual. Previously General Partner at Polychain Capital (Jan 2017 – Jan 2023), Campus Ambassador at Sequoia Capital, Researcher at the Decentralized Systems Lab at UIUC, and Software Engineering Intern at Ripple and Skycatch. Holds a B.S. in Computer Science from UIUC.
Akilesh Potti: Co-Founder at Ritual. Previously Partner at Polychain Capital (Jan 2020 – May 2023), and held roles at Palantir Technologies, Goldman Sachs, MIT CSAIL, and Cornell University. Holds dual B.S. degrees in Computer Science and Operations Research from Cornell University.
