About Privado ID

Privado ID is a self-sovereign identity (SSI) solution built on zero-knowledge proofs (ZKPs), formerly known as Polygon ID. Its core business provides middleware and SDKs that allow applications to issue, hold, and verify verifiable credentials without exposing underlying personal data. The Issuer Node is self-hosted, ensuring user data never leaves an organization's infrastructure, and integrates via REST API. The Wallet SDK enables mobile and browser-based wallets, including the first browser wallet with a zero-knowledge protocol for in-browser credential verification.

Its core value proposition is reusable KYC: users verify once with a trusted issuer, then generate selective-disclosure proofs (e.g., proving age over 18 without revealing exact birth date) for any verifier. This addresses the pain point of repeated document submissions across DeFi platforms, exchanges, and other regulated services, reducing both user friction and data breach liability. The technology follows W3C and DIF standards and supports any EVM-compatible chain.

In the past six months (Feb–Aug 2026), Privado ID launched Billions Network, a separate proof-of-personhood product competing with World ID, with its $BILL token trading on exchanges since May 2026. It also introduced Privado Know Your Agent (KYA), extending identity and accountability to AI agents. No major negative events were reported in this period, though the ecosystem faces general challenges of issuer adoption and regulatory uncertainty common to digital identity projects.

Updated: Aug 29, 2026

Privado ID (formerly Polygon ID) spun off from Polygon Labs to operate independently, rebranding as Privado ID to expand beyond the Polygon ecosystem. This marked a strategic shift toward a chain-agnostic, self-sovereign identity solution.

Later, Privado ID announced a strategic merger with Disco, consolidating efforts to build a unified, interoperable identity layer across blockchains and legacy systems. These milestones signify its long-term commitment to decentralized identity standards and cross-chain usability.
