About Polymer
Polymer Labs, the team behind the Ethereum interoperability hub, has reached several milestones with long-term significance. In March 2022, the project completed its seed round, co-led by Distributed Global and North Island Ventures, with participation from Digital Currency Group (DCG) and Coinbase Ventures, laying the foundation for its development. In January 2024, Polymer raised $23 million in a Series A round led by Blockchain Capital, with participation from Placeholder and others, accelerating the realization of its vision. The most critical milestone came when the Polymer Hub mainnet officially went live, marking the transition from testnet to production. This launch enables IBC (Inter-Blockchain Communication) connectivity across Ethereum L2s, allowing rollups to communicate permissionlessly and securely. Polymer's approach, which uses the native L1-L2 bridge as an IBC client and outsources the transport layer, represents a fundamental architectural shift. This design not only reduces operational overhead for new chains but also creates a unified interoperability layer for the modular ecosystem, positioning Polymer as a key infrastructure provider for the future of multi-chain Ethereum.
Polymer Labs, an Ethereum interoperability hub focused on IBC-based Layer 2 solutions, was co-founded by Peter K. and Bo Du. Bo Du previously served as a Founding Engineer at Chronosphere and Senior Software Engineer at Uber. Elizabeth Ralston serves as General Counsel, bringing extensive legal experience from her roles as Associate General Counsel at Coinbase Cloud, General Counsel at Bison Trails (acquired by Coinbase), and Legal & Compliance Director at BlockTower Capital, preceded by her tenure at Goldman Sachs.
