About PleasrDAO

PleasrDAO is a decentralized autonomous organization focused on acquiring and preserving culturally significant digital assets, including NFTs and internet artifacts. Its core business involves collective purchasing of iconic works, such as the original Doge meme NFT, Edward Snowden's "Stay Free" piece, and Wu-Tang Clan's unique album "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin." The DAO often fractionalizes ownership into tokens, enabling broad community participation.

Its core competitiveness lies in narrative-driven curation and community governance: members jointly decide what to collect and how to manage these assets, turning ownership into shared stewardship. This addresses a key market pain point—digital culture is often ephemeral or controlled by single entities, making preservation and public access difficult. PleasrDAO offers a model for collective ownership and transparent decision-making.

Regarding recent developments in the six months from March to September 2026, no major new acquisitions or significant public activities have been disclosed. The organization appears to be maintaining its existing portfolio and community operations without notable announcements. Negative events within the past two years are not publicly documented, aside from general market volatility affecting NFT valuations.

PleasrDAO was founded in March 2021 after PoolTogether co-founder Leighton Cusack proposed forming a DAO to bid on artist pplpleasr's NFT "x*y=k" for Uniswap V3. It won the auction for 310 ETH, with proceeds donated to charity, establishing its mission to "collect, curate, and commission art with a cause."

Subsequently, the DAO acquired Edward Snowden's NFT "Stay Free," supporting the Freedom of the Press Foundation; bought "Dreaming at Dusk," representing Tor's first onion service; and purchased the original Doge NFT for 1696.6 ETH, later fractionalizing it into $DOG tokens for community ownership. PleasrDAO also obtained Wu-Tang Clan's sole album "Once Upon a Time in Shaolin" from Martin Shkreli, planning public exhibits.

With investment from a16z and others, PleasrDAO became one of the most influential NFT-collecting DAOs. Its experiments in collective ownership, fractionalization, and DeFi integration offer a lasting model for preserving and sharing digital cultural assets.
