About Paytaca
Paytaca is a non-custodial super wallet designed for both Web2 and Web3, built primarily around Bitcoin Cash (BCH). Its core business covers a multi-chain wallet, peer-to-peer (P2P) trading, a merchant Point-of-Sale (POS) system, and an integrated marketplace. The wallet supports fiat on-ramps and token swaps, aiming to bridge the gap between crypto and everyday payments.
Its core narrative centers on making BCH a practical medium of exchange rather than a speculative asset. The competitive edge lies in its non-custodial design, zero-confirmation instant settlements, and low transaction fees, which are particularly relevant in emerging markets with limited banking infrastructure.
The main pain point it addresses is the high cost and friction of traditional remittance and card payment systems, especially for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Paytaca provides a cheaper, faster, and more inclusive alternative, allowing users to retain full control of their funds.
In the past six months (February to August 2026), Paytaca launched the Paytaca Card, a non-custodial NFC payment card that uses BCH smart contracts for on-chain spending limits and merchant authorization rules. The card was showcased at the Cash 3.0 Conference in Cebu City on August 1-2, 2026. No major negative events were reported during this period, though adoption remains limited outside the Philippines.
Paytaca secured a 7.5 million peso pre-seed round via Flipstarter in 2022, laying the groundwork for its non-custodial wallet.
In 2025, Paytaca shipped POS v0.5.5 with CashTokens support, launched Payment Hub Beta, and unveiled the LIFT token roadmap, while training hundreds of students through blockchain workshops.
In 2026, the self-custodial payment card was introduced, extending BCH payments to everyday retail. These milestones mark Paytaca's evolution from a simple wallet into a full-fledged ecosystem.
From Feb to Aug 2026, Paytaca focused on payment infrastructure and AI agent integration. In March, v0.3.0 introduced x402 payment protocol support, adding AI agent (OpenCode/Claude Code) skill installation with user confirmation, enhancing machine-payability. In July, a self-custodial payment card launched at Cash 3.0 Conference in Cebu, supporting smart contracts and signed confirmation with full user fund control. Merchant network expanded to 300+ in the Philippines, covering Ormoc and Cebu, with plans to enter Metro Manila and Taiwan. CMO Aaron Almadro emphasized non-custodial model, eliminating reliance on banks or third-party custody. Official roadmap highlights: 1) Deepening x402 integration for AI agent autonomous payments; 2) Expanding Asia-Pacific merchant network by replicating Philippine localization; 3) Strengthening developer toolchains to lower merchant onboarding barriers; 4) Exploring complex payment scenarios via smart contracts. The project steadfastly upholds non-custodial and user sovereignty principles to address regulatory and trust challenges.
