About Paradex

Paradex is a decentralized perpetual futures exchange built on Ethereum's Layer 2, using Starknet's technology stack. Its core business is offering leveraged trading on over 250 markets, including crypto, forex, and commodities, with zero trading fees for both makers and takers.

The main selling point is privacy. Unlike most DEXs where all positions and orders are publicly visible, Paradex encrypts account states and runs an off-chain order book. This prevents front-running and copy-trading, which are major issues for large traders on transparent platforms.

The market pain point Paradex addresses is the 'visibility tax' in DeFi: when big players trade on open DEXs, bots can see their orders and front-run them, leading to worse prices. Paradex's encrypted design hides this information, giving institutional and high-volume traders a fairer playing field.

In the past six months (March to September 2026), Paradex has seen significant growth. Monthly trading volume rose from about $8 billion in July 2025 to $32 billion by December 2025, and daily volume reached $1.2 billion in January 2026. The platform also launched Funding V2 in June 2026, which recalculates funding rates every second using a weighted median from six exchanges, reducing rate manipulation and volatility.

However, there was a notable incident in January 2026: a database maintenance error caused the Bitcoin perpetual price to crash to zero temporarily. The team rolled back the blockchain to block 1,604,710 to restore correct account states, which invalidated some trades and forced liquidations. This highlights the risks of centralized control in an otherwise decentralized platform.

Recent team changes at Paradex: Chief Architect Sergey Vidyuk departed in June 2026. He joined in March 2022 and served for about four years, leading the core architecture and trading system design.

No new hires have been reported so far, leaving a vacancy in technical leadership that may impact future platform development and strategic direction.
