About Oxio
OXIO is a Telecom-as-a-Service (TaaS) platform that abstracts mobile network infrastructure into software, enabling businesses to launch and operate their own mobile services without building or managing physical telecom hardware. Its core offering includes a cloud-based core network, programmable APIs, and a management console covering SIM/eSIM lifecycle, billing, and analytics.
The company targets several pain points in the telecom industry: high entry barriers for MVNOs, fragmented cross-border connectivity, slow deployment cycles, and limited control over network data. By providing a fully cloud-native, multi-operator network, OXIO lets customers deploy connectivity in days rather than months, with transparent pricing and real-time usage intelligence.
Its competitive edge lies in owning its core network stack, which allows deep customization and data access that reseller-based MVNO enablers cannot offer. Key use cases include borderless MVNOs, M2M/IoT connectivity, identity verification via eSIM authentication, and regulated financial communications.
In the past six months (Feb–Aug 2026), OXIO announced strategic partnerships with AWS and Mavenir to strengthen its platform and ecosystem. It also secured FCC licensing and completed VoLTE certification for the U.S. market, expanding its operational capabilities. The company reported surpassing 2 million activated lines, with M2M activations growing nearly 20% in the second half of the year. These milestones indicate continued scaling of its TaaS model, though specific financial details were not disclosed.
Over the past six months, OXIO advanced key strategies:
Announced the acquisition of Movistar Mexico for US$450 million, led by a U.S. consortium headed by OXIO and Newfoundland Capital Management, aiming to transform it into a next-generation operator powered by OXIO's cloud-native TaaS platform.
Launched Advanced Core Routing (ACR), enabling real-time AI-driven decisions, fraud prevention, and compliance at the network layer.
Official roadmap: In Mexico, adopt a "carrier of carriers" model, leveraging AT&T, Altán Redes, and Telcel networks, combined with satellite connectivity, and use AI for dynamic traffic and coverage optimization, avoiding own physical infrastructure.
