OGY is used for digital-certificate minting, protocol governance and staking rewards, and to pay on-chain service fees; it adopts a deflationary model, with part of the fees burned and a fixed supply.

About Origyn

ORIGYN is a real-world-asset certification protocol on the Internet Computer (ICP) that issues tamper-proof on-chain digital certificates for high-value physical assets such as luxury goods, art, gold and diamonds, storing images, documents and biometric metadata fully on-chain. It addresses counterfeiting and weak provenance in premium goods by permanently binding objects to immutable ownership records, with certificates linked to physical items via QR codes or NFC tags. Its core mechanism uses ICP canister storage for fully on-chain data and subnet consensus, expresses certificates through NFT standards like ICRC7/ICRC37, and provides Minting Studio for professional integrators to mint at scale and manage advanced certificates, with the protocol governed as a DAO via ICP's SNS framework.

In the ecosystem ORIGYN aligns with the EU Digital Product Passport (DPP) compliance demand and is listed as a DPP infrastructure provider, serving brands and institutions in watches, fashion and art. The trust ceiling of a certificate is set by the accuracy of off-chain physical authentication, so if source authentication errs the on-chain record loses meaning; all metadata also depends on ICP canister cycles being continuously funded, and an interruption would affect the durability of access.

Token migration: The deadline to migrate legacy OGY to the new SNS ledger is October 15, 2026 on a 1:1 basis; unmigrated tokens move to a Reserve Pool, recoverable only by contacting the team with proof of ownership, as the old governance system is formally deprecated.

Milestones: In Q3 Minting Studio received a major upgrade adding API key access, team accounts and private encrypted certificates for Digital Product Passports; the DAO treasury was expanded and new AI agent features were shown to the community for the first time.

On October 15, 2026, ORIGYN closed self-service migration from legacy OGY, moving unmigrated balances one-to-one into a reserve pool from which holders must recover tokens by contacting the team to verify ownership, while the legacy governance system was retired.

In the third quarter of 2026, Minting Studio was upgraded so businesses can connect through an API key without a crypto wallet, with team roles, encrypted private certificates and certificate issuance in seconds; digital product passports can now be configured in the studio ahead of EU rules in 2027. The DAO treasury was expanded in the same quarter and features for AI agents were shown for the first time. OGY is governed through ICP's SNS framework.

Origyn uses digital product passports and luxury extended warranties as entry points, extends cross-chain, wallet and marketplace integrations, and pushes the certification standard into more asset classes.
