About OlympusDAO
Olympus issues OHM on Ethereum, backed by treasury assets and designed as free-floating money rather than a stablecoin. The treasury holds reserves such as USDS and sUSDe, and three mechanisms adjust supply and demand: Cooler Loans let users borrow USDS against gOHM at a fixed 0.5% rate with no price-based liquidation, with capacity released as backing grows; the Yield Repurchase Facility spends treasury yield buying and burning OHM; convertible deposits issue at a premium and retire at a discount. OHM's price is set by the market, with liquid backing per token as the reference.
It is an on-chain monetary policy experiment: unlike fiat-backed stablecoins it does not peg to the dollar but uses the treasury and buybacks as a lower reference, serving DeFi users who want non-stable money or leverage against it. Cooler is the main entry, with borrowers drawing USDS and buying OHM in a loop while governance adjusts rates and capacity slowly; in June 2026 institutional convertible deposits were approved, the USDS deposit cap rose to USD 60 million and a six-month tenor was added. OHM's depth is concentrated in a few Uniswap pools on Ethereum, with thin liquidity on bridged versions, so large entries and exits move the price.
OlympusDAO launched in March 2021 as a decentralized reserve currency protocol. Its key long-term milestones include:
Introducing Protocol Owned Liquidity (POL) via discount bonds, shifting from rented liquidity to treasury-owned LP tokens, which became a foundational DeFi 2.0 innovation.
Launching Olympus Pro in September 2021, a 'Bonds-as-a-Service' platform allowing other DAOs to adopt POL, generating revenue and expanding the ecosystem.
Upgrading to V2 with gOHM, enabling auto-staking, cross-chain governance, and reduced gas costs.
Releasing V3 in August 2022, featuring Inverse Bonds and Range-Bound Stability (RBS) to absorb market volatility and maintain price stability without manual intervention.
These developments established Olympus as a pioneer in algorithmic reserve currencies and protocol-owned liquidity, influencing numerous forks and shaping DeFi's evolution.
Buybacks: The Yield Repurchase Facility keeps buying and burning OHM with treasury yield, repurchasing 1,012 OHM (about $18.4K) during June 1-7 and roughly $19.5K during June 8-14; cumulatively the protocol has bought back over $155 million while supply grew less than 1%.
Governance and fundamentals: In early June institutional Convertible Deposits were approved, raising the USDS deposit cap from $10 million to $60 million with a new 6-month term; OIP-196, a multi-source redundant price feed upgrade, passed; treasury sits near $195 million with liquid backing of about $11.20 per OHM.
On May 15, 2026, the Olympus community proposed OIP-195, the Engage programme, which would reward Convertible Deposit users with convertible OHM (convOHM), funded from CD revenue that would otherwise fund buybacks and without adding inflation; CDs were paused at the time amid market weakness.
On October 2, 2026, Blockworks launched a public Olympus dashboard showing about $65,000 in weekly protocol revenue, with CD loan interest approaching $22,000 a week versus negligible levels six weeks earlier. Treasury value was about $184.7 million, liquid backing $12.05 per OHM, and OHM traded near $20 for a market cap of roughly $300 million.
Future strategy and roadmap: Olympus will keep using Cooler fixed-rate lending, CDs and buybacks to manage supply, restart CDs once conditions normalise, and use convOHM to align incentives with long-term holders.
