Details

Nomic is a decentralized Bitcoin bridge protocol built on the Cosmos SDK, designed to securely bring BTC into the Cosmos ecosystem. It locks native Bitcoin in a decentralized custody system managed by a validator set and mints an equivalent amount of nBTC on the Nomic chain. nBTC follows the IBC (Inter-Blockchain Communication) standard, allowing it to move freely within the Cosmos ecosystem for use in DeFi applications. Its core mechanisms include: using the Orga framework and Tendermint consensus to ensure chain performance and security; ensuring asset safety through light client verification and signature thresholds; and incorporating emergency disbursement and circuit breaker mechanisms to handle extreme situations.
