About National Cryptocurrency Association
The National Cryptocurrency Association (NCA) is a US nonprofit focused on making crypto accessible to everyday people. Its core work includes free educational resources such as Crypto 101, a simulator for practicing transactions without real money, a weekly podcast, and a plain-English glossary. It also conducts large-scale research, including surveys of 10,000 holders and non-holders, and partners with organizations like Coinbase and Operation HOPE to bring crypto literacy to underserved communities.
Its main value proposition is bridging the knowledge gap that keeps many Americans from engaging with crypto. Research shows the biggest barrier to adoption is lack of understanding, not lack of interest. NCA addresses this by publishing real holder stories, providing jargon-free education, and tracking public sentiment through regular pulse surveys.
In the past six months (March to September 2026), NCA released its 2026 State of Crypto Holders Report, showing 67 million US adults now hold crypto—one in four adults, up from one in five a year earlier. It also launched an interactive map tracking holders by congressional district and state, highlighting that the industry supports 232,000 US jobs and adds $55 billion to the economy. In August, NCA began tracking the SEC's new 402-page Regulation Crypto Assets proposal, which aims to create the first offering framework built specifically for crypto, with a public comment period open through October 20, 2026.
In the past six months (Mar–Sep 2026), NCA released the 2026 State of Crypto Holders report: US holders reached 67 million (28% of adults), up 12 million YoY; 63% are more interested in crypto, 75% see it as reliable, 40% use it for peer-to-peer transfers/payments, and 50% plan to donate. In July, the Crypto at Work report showed the industry directly supports 34,000 jobs, contributes over $55 billion to the economy, indirectly supports 232,000 jobs, with average wages around $133,000. Official priorities for the next phase: continue holder research, deepen community education, expand learning resources (courses, simulator, podcast, glossary), and create more spaces for holders to share their own stories; also promote merchant payment adoption, rewards/interest mechanisms, smart regulation, and stronger security protections.
