MonkeDAO is Solana's first NFT-based DAO, originating from the Solana Monkey Business NFT community. Its core business includes running a validator node, offering daoSOL liquid staking, funding ecosystem projects through MonkeVentures, and incubating early-stage teams via MonkeFoundry. The Banana Stand platform gamifies community participation by rewarding members with 'bananas' for completing tasks and bounties.

Its competitive edge lies in being a long-standing, community-governed institution with real on-chain infrastructure, rather than a token-only project. The DAO's governance model is open to all members, with Gen2 holders casting final on-chain votes. With 20+ local chapters worldwide and weekly 'Monday Monke Spotlight' Twitter Spaces, it maintains an active global community.

The pain point it addresses is the lack of sustainable infrastructure and real utility in many NFT communities. MonkeDAO solves this by running validator operations, creating liquid staking yield, and channeling community resources into venture investments and incubation programs, giving NFT holders tangible participation in Web3 building.

In the past six months (March–September 2026), MonkeDAO launched its anniversary campaign in August, featuring quests, badges, and randomized mystery packs distributed through Banana Stand. The packs disclose drop rates, remaining inventory, and buyback terms before purchase, adding transparency to randomized rewards. The anniversary badge is tied to additional undisclosed benefits. However, daoSOL remains smaller than leading liquid staking tokens, and governance participation requires active involvement, which may limit broader adoption.
