MSquared

MSquared is an interoperable metaverse network that enables users to carry their virtual assets—such as avatars, clothing, accessories, and emotes—across different virtual worlds. Its core technology combines on-chain NFT records, an omnichain indexer, and the MML standard for object definition, allowing assets to be imported and used across multiple platforms. The platform also supports permissioned storage, where content access is restricted to verified NFT holders, and offers moderation tools that let metaverses filter inbound objects based on classification tags.

The core value proposition is breaking down silos between virtual worlds. Currently, most metaverses are closed ecosystems where users must start from scratch—buying new items and rebuilding identities in each world. MSquared solves this by establishing a shared ownership layer, linking user wallets to their assets across chains, and supporting delegation mechanisms for secure, read-only lending of high-value NFTs.

In the past six months (March to September 2026), MSquared has deepened its partnership with Somnia, adopting it as the default blockchain. Somnia offers 100ms block times and significantly lower gas fees, making real-time on-chain interactions feasible. The team has built Etherbase, an open-source tool that simplifies blockchain data management through a schema-based interface. They also announced Chunked, a voxel-based MMO sandbox where exploration, building, and crafting are fully on-chain. During a live demo, over 30,000 transactions were streamed in real-time, showcasing the network's capacity.

One notable limitation: the interoperable network is still in Early Access, meaning objects are currently restricted to those approved by MSquared directly, rather than being fully open to community moderation. This is expected to change later in 2025.
