About Lagoon

Lagoon is an on-chain vault infrastructure built on the ERC-7540 standard for launching and operating tokenized funds. Its core workflow is asynchronous: investors first submit deposit or redemption requests, and the curator settles all pending requests at a defined valuation point, pricing shares according to the net asset value (NAV) at settlement. This mirrors the traditional fund lifecycle and avoids arbitrage that can occur with same-block settlement.

To address common pain points in traditional fund management—such as manual handling of subscriptions/redemptions, opaque fee calculations, and complex cross-chain deployment—Lagoon encodes custody and operational processes into smart contracts. Vaults include built-in management and performance fee logic, with performance fees tracked automatically via an on-chain high-water mark (HWM). Roles are separated among curator, valuation provider, vault admin, and other parties, with multisig and permission controls supported. All NAV updates, fee events, and asset movements are recorded on-chain, creating an auditable trail.

Regarding recent progress, as of April 2026, Lagoon's Vault Factory supports more than 18 EVM chains, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, and Polygon, and has deployed over 800 vaults. Using the same factory contract, curators can create vaults with identical parameters on different chains, reducing the deployment and operational overhead of multi-chain management. The factory contracts have undergone multiple audits, and parameter changes are time-locked.

Over the past six months (2026-03-04 to 2026-09-04), Lagoon has delivered its largest feature release, v0.6, introducing entry/exit fees (capped at 2%, decrease-only), a haircut fee on synchronous redemptions (capped at 20%, redistributed to remaining holders), and a management fee refactor now based on time-weighted average AUM. Access control was upgraded with a dual whitelist/blacklist mode, an optional Chainalysis-compatible sanctions oracle, a new Operator role for KYC'd integrators, and redeem-on-behalf capabilities. Security was strengthened with price-per-share guardrails (annual upper/lower bounds), a Security Council role, per-vault max caps, and an async-only mode. Operational continuity improved via sync/async toggles, cancellation of pending redeem requests, initial totalAssets for migrations, and post-deploy updates to name/symbol/Safe address.

On the expansion front, the Vault Factory is now live on 18+ EVM chains (Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Polygon, Avalanche, Sonic, Linea, Mantle, HyperEVM, Monad, Sei, Unichain, Worldchain, Katana, Plasma, TAC), with 800+ vaults deployed. Per Nethermind's case study, the protocol scaled from V1 to V5, with TVL crossing $300M and briefly entering the top 100 DeFi protocols, driven by async ERC-7540 vault adoption and repeated security reviews.

Going forward, Lagoon's roadmap focuses on deeper multi-chain deployment (adding chains on request), UI-based vault deployment tools, and continued hardening of async/hybrid execution flows. The team emphasizes modular strategy execution, institutional compliance integrations (custody via Safe, Fireblocks, Fordi), and maintaining backward compatibility with ERC-4626 while expanding ERC-7540 async capabilities.
