About Labubu
Labubu (LABUBU) is a meme coin on the Solana blockchain, inspired by the popular Labubu toy IP from Pop Mart. Its core narrative is community-driven and fair launch: 100% of tokens were minted at once with no pre-allocation, the minting authority was revoked, and liquidity pool tokens were burned, ensuring full transparency and community ownership. The project aims to capitalize on the cultural buzz around the Labubu character, which gained global traction through social media and celebrity endorsements, turning it into a digital asset that rides on the IP's popularity.
In terms of market pain points, meme coins often suffer from short lifecycles and lack of intrinsic value, while the Labubu IP itself faces issues like counterfeit products and speculative trading. LABUBU addresses this by leveraging a strong, recognizable brand and a fair distribution model to build trust. However, the token is highly volatile, and there are over 20 copycat tokens, creating confusion for newcomers.
Over the past six months (2026-02-28 to 2026-08-31), the project has seen mixed developments. While the underlying Labubu IP continued to expand—Pop Mart reported strong sales and the character's presence grew in overseas markets—the meme coin itself faced significant price fluctuations. The token's market cap swung dramatically, reflecting speculative trading rather than stable growth. Negative news included the IP's sales slowdown in certain regions and the proliferation of scam tokens, which dampened investor sentiment. Despite this, the community remained active, and the project's transparent structure helped maintain a loyal base.
Exploit: On June 20 the OLPC/LABUBU pool on PancakeSwap V2 (BNB Chain) was drained of about $1.1M; the attacker exploited a deflationary-burn flaw in the OLPC token to create a reserve mismatch, bought the pool's LABUBU at a distorted price, converted the proceeds to roughly 1,115,903 USDT, and laundered them via Tornado Cash — none were recovered.
Official response: PancakeSwap stated its own contracts were not at fault, attributing the issue to the OLPC token's configuration; the incident again highlighted the incompatibility of fee-on-transfer and deflationary tokens with constant-product AMMs.
On June 12, 2026, LABUBU rose 55.69% in 24 hours to $0.00092, with a market cap of about $918,000 and more than 18,000 holders; the token trades on seven exchanges including Gate.io, Bitget and LBank, and the community has launched 2026 World Cup-themed features and a custom Labubu image generator.
Deployed on Solana in January 2025, Labubu listed on BingX on May 19, Poloniex on May 20 and BitTap on June 19, and hit an all-time high of $0.06178 in June 2025; holders numbered 17,369 in February 2026. Supply is capped at 1 billion tokens with zero trading tax and locked liquidity, and the site states it is not affiliated with Pop Mart or creator Kasing Lung.
