About Kima

Kima is a standalone settlement-layer blockchain positioned as atomic settlement infrastructure connecting traditional finance and crypto assets. Its business provides cross-chain and cross-ecosystem fund transfer capabilities to dApps, financial institutions, and Web2 payment applications via an SDK/API, supporting settlement among stablecoins, fiat, CBDCs, and tokenized assets without issuing wrapped tokens. Core technologies include native externally owned accounts (EOAs) as pools, threshold signature schemes (TSS) with Intel SGX trusted execution environments for key management, light-client verification, and the LiMa liquidity management algorithm; the protocol avoids smart contracts, oracles, and external relayers to reduce attack surface. The market pains addressed are: liquidity fragmentation across blockchains, existing bridges with security vulnerabilities and poor capital efficiency, users' inability to directly use assets on other chains within an app, and high compliance costs for traditional financial institutions entering Web3. Kima lowers integration barriers through an opt-in compliance module (KYC/AML/KYT) at the protocol layer and direct connections to bank accounts/wallets. Recent development: integration into Mastercard's sandbox, allowing users to top up prepaid cards with USDC and USDT from self-custody wallets on 10+ chains; it also continued improving documentation and developer tools, advancing compliance and institutional use cases.
