About JoyID

JoyID is a Web3 universal account protocol that enables passwordless login and transaction signing using device-native biometrics (Face ID, Touch ID) via WebAuthn passkeys. It supports multiple blockchains including BTC, ETH, and CKB, allowing users to manage assets across chains without installing browser extensions or managing seed phrases.

Core value proposition: JoyID replaces traditional wallet UX (seed phrases, passwords, private keys) with biometric authentication, while maintaining non-custodial control. It also introduces a portable session layer (JoyID Connect) that lets dApps request scoped permissions (e.g., read-only or limited signing) from an existing JoyID identity, avoiding repeated full authentication flows.

Market pain points addressed: (1) High entry barrier for non-crypto users due to complex key management; (2) Fragmented identity across dApps, forcing repeated logins; (3) Security risks from phishing and private key leakage. JoyID mitigates these by leveraging hardware-backed passkeys and a user-centric authorization model.

Recent development (2026-02 to 2026-08): The project has focused on expanding cross-chain support and refining the Connect SDK. Notable updates include improved passkey recovery options (e.g., iCloud/Google sync) and documentation for integrating JoyID with RGB++ assets on CKB. However, no major public milestones or ecosystem partnerships were announced during this period. No significant negative incidents were reported, though the project remains in early adoption stage with limited dApp integrations beyond the CKB ecosystem.
