About Indigo
Indigo Protocol is a synthetic asset protocol on Cardano where users overcollateralise ADA or other whitelisted assets to mint tokens tracking dollars, euros, yen, bitcoin and ether. It serves Cardano users needing non-ADA exposure, addressing the chain's thin native stablecoin and derivatives base and the extra trust assumptions of bridging in assets. Prices for synthetics and ADA come from oracles, and collateral ratios are recomputed as the underlying moves.
Positions are recorded as collateralised debt, with debt accruing interest at protocol-set rates; when the collateral ratio falls below threshold, stability pools take the collateral at a discount and burn the matching debt. A peg stability module lets approved stablecoins mint or redeem the synthetic dollar directly, and ADA used as collateral keeps earning staking rewards. Interest rates float with the ratio of debt to total collateral, and stability pool providers receive discounted collateral for the risk they take.
Indigo charges a 0.5% fee on debt minting: minting 100 iUSD of debt delivers 99.5 iUSD, with the remaining 0.5 iUSD paid directly to the Treasury.
Indigo's OrderBook redemption charges a 1% fee on the redeemed amount, so redeeming 10 iUSD matches 9.9 iUSD while 0.1 iUSD is credited to the position owner.
