About Imua
Imua, formerly Exocore, is an L1 protocol built specifically for shared security. Its key milestones include:
In February 2025, Imua announced a $5 million seed round led by Draper Dragon, No Limit Holdings, and Paramita Capital, with participation from Reforge Capital, Caladan Capital, Tané Labs, and others. Shima Capital provided early incubation support. The oversubscribed round signaled strong market confidence in its restaking vision.
In March 2025, Imua launched its mainnet, following a public testnet that attracted 42 validators and partnerships with over a dozen projects. This transition from testnet to mainnet marked the protocol's operational maturity.
Technically, Imua introduced Restaked Proof-of-Stake (rPoS), a novel mechanism allowing the network to bootstrap itself using restaked tokens from established chains like BTC, ETH, and SOL. Its architecture uses one-way state mapping via ZK light-clients, avoiding traditional bridging risks, and features an enshrined oracle module for standardized voting power calculation. These innovations address critical challenges in cross-chain security and slashing disputes, positioning Imua as a foundational layer for decentralized trust services across both crypto and AI applications.
Based on official community calls and documentation, Imua has advanced several key initiatives over the past six months. Slashing Insurance, the first additional layer atop the core protocol, enables stakers to parameterize risk exposure via premiums. A Slashing Veto mechanism allows validators to temporarily halt slash events for review. Auto-compounding integrates rewards directly into active capital, while a buyback mechanism funded by service fees will support token value. Supported assets now include BTC, XRP, DOGE, and soon BNB. The testnet was upgraded to v1.1.3. Future focus is on deploying these features, transitioning staking into a structured risk-management instrument with economic alignment, and moving toward production infrastructure.
Imua is an L1 protocol built for shared security. Its core team includes:
Warren Paul Anderson (Co-founder & CEO): Former CEO of Findora, previously worked at Ripple on the XRP Ledger core and co-created On-Demand Liquidity (ODL). Founded two hardware startups. Active in crypto since 2011.
Rongjian "RJ" Lan (Co-founder & CTO): Former CTO of Harmony, leading blockchain development since 2018. Focused on consensus and scalability.
Raluca Ada Popa (Co-founder): Professor of Computer Science at UC Berkeley, specializing in cryptography and security. Co-founder of several security startups.
