About GeckoTerminal
GeckoTerminal is a real-time DEX tracker built by CoinGecko, covering the broadest range of chains, DEXs, and launchpads in the market. Its core value lies in surfacing on-chain trading activity—token pairs, liquidity pools, volume, and price action—across multiple ecosystems in one unified interface.
The market pain point it addresses is the fragmentation of DEX data. New tokens often appear on decentralized exchanges before centralized listings, and early activity is hard to spot without stitching together multiple dashboards. GeckoTerminal solves this by making early market discovery fast and accessible, letting users evaluate whether price moves are backed by healthy liquidity or just thin, easily manipulated pools.
In the past six months (2026-03-12 to 2026-09-12), GeckoTerminal has expanded its multi-chain coverage further, as highlighted by CoinGecko co-founder Bobby Ong in September 2025, reinforcing its position as the go-to tool for scanning emerging ecosystems. The platform also gained users shifting from Dexscreener after that competitor failed to filter dust trades in a Meteora pool, which pushed traders toward GeckoTerminal's cleaner data. As of mid-September 2026, the platform tracks 75.43M transactions in 24 hours with $17.06B in trading volume, reflecting sustained usage growth.
In July 2021, GeckoTerminal was launched by the CoinGecko team, initially serving as CoinGecko's on-chain API data provider starting with Pancakeswap. In September of the same year, a web front-end was launched covering Ethereum, BNB Chain, and Avalanche.
In March 2022, it added support for the first non-EVM chain, Terra, followed by Solana in April, and graduated from beta with a front-end revamp in August, covering 50 chains by year-end.
In February 2023, it launched a free public API; in March, it introduced the OHLCV candlestick endpoint and integrated GoPlus security scanning; in August, it opened token submissions; in October, it released the GT Security Score and integrated De.Fi; in November, it added Ton support.
In 2024, iOS and Android mobile apps were released.
By September 2025, GeckoTerminal tracked the most chains, DEXs, and launchpads in the industry; by mid-2026, it covered 250+ chains, 1,700+ DEXs, and 44 million+ token prices, making it the broadest multichain DEX data layer.
