About GLIF
GLIF is a DeFi protocol built on the Filecoin network, connecting FIL holders and storage providers (SPs). FIL holders can deposit FIL into a pool to earn yields, while SPs can borrow FIL as collateral for storage mining, using their already-locked pledge collateral, without KYC or handing over private keys.
Core business: The Infinity Pool is its first market, operating as a decentralized, non-custodial lending pool. SPs borrow FIL to expand storage capacity; lenders earn fees paid by SPs. Borrowing using existing pledged collateral enables SPs to gain up to 3x leverage.
Market pain points: Before GLIF, FIL holders had no secure, permissionless way to earn sustainable yields without running hardware, while SPs faced high costs and rigid conditions when borrowing FIL to scale. GLIF solves the capital inefficiency of Filecoin by reusing locked collateral.
Development in the past half year (2026-03-02 to 2026-09-02): No reliable public information. Currently, GLIF is live on Filecoin and is expanding its model to other DePIN chains, such as Impossible Cloud Network, but specific recent milestones are not verifiable from available sources.
In the past six months, GLIF, the leading DeFi protocol in the Filecoin ecosystem, completed several milestones. First, it launched its native governance token GLF, with 94 million tokens airdropped to active users (9.4% of total supply); 25% was claimable immediately and 75% vested linearly over 180 days, with undistributed tokens going to a community rewards pool. Second, it introduced GLIF+, a loyalty program built on GLF, featuring soulbound membership cards for liquidity providers and storage providers. Users can stake GLF to upgrade card tiers (Copper/Silver/Gold) and access benefits such as up to 10x borrowing leverage, premium FIL cashback on interest, and a protocol treasury buyback mechanism. SP cards have already redeemed over 2 million GLF, and a referral program has also launched. Third, GLIF expanded to the Base network, launching ICNT liquid staking, where users deposit ICNT to mint stICNT and earn around 12%-18% APY while remaining composable across Base DeFi. Looking ahead, the team plans to replicate its liquid leasing model across more DePIN networks, prioritizing ecosystems where miners already participate in multi-mining. It also aims to build mileage-style membership benefits and develop a "truly innovative economic mechanism" to expand GLF utility and value capture.
Co-founder & CEO Jon Schwartz: Former software engineer at ConsenSys; founded Open Work Labs in 2018, which evolved into Infinite Scroll and then GLIF. Since 2019, he has built Filecoin tools (wallet, multisig, etc.). He led the launch of GLIF Pools and GLIF's expansion to multi-chain DePIN.
