About Fordefi
Fordefi is an institutional-grade MPC wallet and security platform designed for teams managing digital assets. Its core business revolves around providing self-custody wallets with multi-party computation (MPC) technology, which splits private keys into fragments distributed across multiple parties to eliminate single points of failure. The platform integrates deeply with Safe (formerly Gnosis Safe), allowing teams to govern on-chain assets through shared control while adding policy-based enforcement, transaction simulation, and human-readable decoding.
Its competitive edge lies in combining MPC security with a sophisticated policy engine. Users can define granular rules—such as approval quorums, role-based permissions, token allowance limits, and MEV mitigation—before transactions are signed. Additionally, Fordefi decodes raw transaction data into understandable terms, simulates balance impacts, and verifies contract addresses against a DApp directory, reducing blind signing risks.
Market pain points addressed include the lack of context and control in traditional multisig wallets, where signers often approve opaque payloads without knowing exact outcomes. Fordefi solves this by offering full transaction visibility, policy-driven governance, and automated safeguards like Autorevoke, which strips unwanted token allowances post-trade. It also supports multiple blockchains (EVM, Solana, Bitcoin, Cosmos, Sui) from a single interface, streamlining operations for trading firms and DAOs.
In the past six months (Feb–Aug 2026), Fordefi enhanced its Safe integration, making Safe-initiated actions fully readable and governable within its platform. It introduced Safe as a dedicated vault type, enabling clear transaction history and balance monitoring. The policy engine gained features like the Policy Linter, which warns about ineffective rules, and Policy Diff, which simplifies reviewing policy changes. A workspace freeze feature was added for instant security halts, and USDG reward support was rolled out for eligible vaults. Audit logs via webhooks were also introduced for real-time SIEM streaming.
Fordefi was founded in 2021 by Dima Kogan, Josh Schwartz, and Michael Volfman, launching an institutional-grade MPC wallet and security platform designed for DeFi. In November 2025, Paxos acquired Fordefi for over $100 million, integrating its MPC wallet architecture and policy controls into Paxos's custody infrastructure. This acquisition marked a significant consolidation in the crypto custody space, combining Fordefi's advanced multi-party computation technology with Paxos's regulated stablecoin and tokenization services.
