About Filebase

Filebase is decentralized storage infrastructure for developers that puts S3-compatible object storage and IPFS pinning behind a single interface. Teams keep their existing AWS CLI and S3 SDKs, point the endpoint at the S3-compatible address the platform provides, and write files into buckets; the same object is addressable by its content identifier (CID) and can be served through managed gateways or a custom web address. It targets teams that need cloud-grade availability together with content-addressed verifiability: the fingerprint is bound to the data itself, so renames and migrations do not create dead links, and multi-zone replicas cover single-region failure.

The addressing model uses the CID as primary key, with IPNS supplying an updatable stable link for dynamic content so an edit does not change the public URL; the gateway layer adds a CDN, on-the-fly image optimisation and token-based access control. Filebase Sites shipped in January 2026, collapsing IPFS site publishing into one action; from February 2026 it documented pinning ERC-8004 agent registration files to IPFS and using IPNS pointers for updates; in May 2026 it launched a standalone object storage product priced per TB with egress fees removed. The platform reports more than 2 billion items pinned in total and roughly 55,000 users.

Updated: Oct 30, 2026

Filebase launched Filebase Object Storage on 10 June 2026, shifting its focus from IPFS and decentralized storage gateways back to pure S3-compatible object storage: $15/TB per month with free egress, a built-in CDN operated by Filebase, uploads and downloads claimed up to 18x faster than Cloudflare R2, and SHA-256 object verification. The service runs on bare metal infrastructure the company operates, and customers can migrate using existing S3 tools and SDKs.

Future strategy and roadmap: Filebase said it will keep iterating on performance and predictable billing, expand its own CDN footprint and regional coverage, and preserve compatibility with AWS CLI and existing S3 workflows. The decentralized storage gateway business remains available but is no longer the main investment focus.
