About Ensue
Ensue is a distributed shared memory layer designed for AI agents. It provides persistent, structured memory that multiple agents can read from and write to, with fine-grained permissions (private/shared/public namespaces) and real-time subscription notifications. Its core value proposition is treating memory as infrastructure rather than context-window stuffing: instead of relying on larger token windows, it uses structured ingestion, versioned fact stores, and retrieval sub-agents to achieve reliable cross-session recall. Benchmark results on LongMemEval show 93.2% overall accuracy with GPT-5-mini and 97-100% single-session retrieval reliability.
The market pain point is that AI agents are bottlenecked by context limits and fragmented memory—each session starts fresh, and multi-agent coordination lacks shared state. Ensue solves this by decoupling ingestion from querying, enabling agents to dynamically assemble cross-session context and coordinate via shared memory. It also supports cross-platform memory migration (e.g., WhatsApp, OpenAI, Cursor, Manus).
In the past six months (2026-03 to 2026-09): March launched autoresearch@home, a distributed research network where agents share GPU resources to collectively improve language models. April demonstrated a 6.31x inference speedup over Apple's CoreML using six autonomous agents on six Macs. February added visual memory inspection (tree/graph/hypergraph views). August open-sourced a multi-agent orchestration framework enabling real-time coordination over shared memory, plus a World Model Grants program providing free GPU resources to ten teams.
Known limitations: heavy reliance on Ensue's online API with no offline mode, plain-text API key storage without built-in encryption, weak permission auditing at scale, unclear data sovereignty (third-party hosting), and no SLA on the free tier.
Recently, Ensue experienced a significant team change: Co-Founder & CMO Christine Yip departed in May 2026. She joined in June 2025, serving for about 11 months. During her tenure, she led marketing and community efforts and actively promoted Ensue's shared memory layer concept, including participating in discussions on multi-agent systems. No other team changes are currently known.
