About Edel Finance
Edel Finance is a credit layer for tokenized equities. Its core product, Edel Lending, allows users to deposit tokenized stocks (such as tokenized Google shares) as collateral to borrow stablecoins or other assets, or to supply assets to earn interest. The platform's core narrative is to transform tokenized assets from passive holdings into productive capital, enabling holders to gain liquidity without selling their positions.
Edel addresses the market pain point where tokenized equity holders previously had limited options to utilize their assets. By building a lending market specifically for tokenized stocks, it solves the problem of asset idleness, allowing users to unlock the capital efficiency of their holdings. Its architecture is modular, designed to connect assets, liquidity, risk exposure, and execution across multiple networks.
In the past six months (March to September 2026), Edel experienced a significant security incident. On July 1, 2026, the platform was exploited due to a manipulation of the exchange rate between GOOGLx and its wrapped form wGOOGLx, inflating collateral value by approximately 78 times and causing about $403,000 in bad debt. The team immediately paused all V1 contracts, stated they would absorb all losses to protect depositors, and began deploying a redesigned V2 system with improved pricing mechanisms to prevent similar attacks. They also offered a white-hat settlement to the attacker and coordinated with exchanges. No user funds were lost.
In 2025, Edel Finance's testnet surpassed 35,000 users, with one trader spending 12 ETH to buy 1.26 million EDEL, showing early market interest.
In November of the same year, the EDEL token was officially launched, but blockchain analytics firm Bubblemaps found that about 60 wallets associated with the project team snapped up over 30% of the tokens at launch, worth approximately $11 million, raising questions about token distribution transparency.
In March 2026, Edel launched its mainnet, introducing an on-chain lending market for tokenized stocks, positioning itself as a credit layer for tokenized equities, allowing users to deposit tokenized stocks for lending and leverage.
In July 2026, the lending market was attacked; the attacker manipulated the collateral price of wGOOGLx to conduct unauthorized borrowing, causing a loss of approximately $204,000. CertiK flagged the transactions, exposing the protocol's security risks.
Edel Finance is led by co-founders Andrés Soltermann (CEO) and Roman Fritschi (CTO). Andrés is a developer-turned-entrepreneur with deep roots in crypto and DeFi. He started mining Bitcoin in 2013, later built a yield aggregator that raised $26M (largest on-chain launch on BSC), introduced the first decentralized Swiss Franc stablecoin ($50M+ TVL), and created the first lending market for LP tokens ($250M+ volume). Roman is a tech and UX expert with 15+ years of experience across web3, fintech, and legaltech. He co-founded multiple ventures, including a digital asset infrastructure company, and currently leads technology and product engineering at Edel. Together, they focus on turning tokenized equity into productive financial infrastructure.
