About Digitoys
Digitoys, formerly Cryptoys, was founded by OnChain Studios in Miami in 2021. Its early pixel-style Cryptoys Classic was minted on Polygon on Nov 16, 2021, then bridged to Flow, laying the foundation for blockchain-based digital toys. The project raised a $7.5M seed round led by a16z, with Dapper Labs among participants, fueling later expansion. In March 2026, the platform rebranded to Digitoys, articulating a vision of blended physical-digital play and signaling a shift from crypto-native to mainstream consumer brands. In July 2026, it launched its first native iOS app, extending blind-box and rarity experiences to mobile beyond the browser—an important distribution milestone. These milestones reflect long-term evolution in technical foundation, funding, brand positioning, and channels.
Over the past six months (2026-03-04 to 2026-09-04), Digitoys (formerly Cryptoys) has made significant strides. Key developments include:
Rebranding to Digitoys: The platform officially rebranded from Cryptoys to Digitoys in July 2026, reflecting a broader vision of converging physical and digital play.
iOS App Launch: In July 2026, Digitoys launched its debut iOS app, bringing its blind-box collectibles, tiers, and rarities to mobile for the first time.
Digital Toy Exchange (DTE) Launch: The company introduced a peer-to-peer marketplace built on Rarible Protocol and the Abstract blockchain, enabling direct trading of digital collectibles and enhancing set completion.
Major IP Partnerships: Digitoys secured high-profile collaborations with Disney/Lucasfilm (Star Wars), NASCAR, and Mattel (Barbie, Masters of the Universe), expanding its licensed collectible lineup.
Future Focus & Roadmap:
- Multi-format Play: Expanding beyond single-platform toys into mobile apps, messaging platforms, and live shopping experiences.
- Blockchain Infrastructure: Leveraging Abstract (by Igloo Inc.) for consumer-friendly onboarding and distribution, with Rarible Protocol powering seamless trading.
- Community & Collectibility: Prioritizing user-to-user trading, set completion, and long-term engagement through the DTE.
- IP Expansion: Continuing to onboard world-class brands to bridge physical and digital toy ecosystems.
No official detailed roadmap has been published beyond these strategic pillars, but the company remains focused on becoming a leading digital toy platform.
