About Deblock
Deblock is a French fintech that combines a self-custodial crypto wallet with a traditional euro current account, letting users hold, spend, and convert both fiat and digital assets in one app. It holds an EMI license from the ACPR and a MiCA license from the AMF, meaning it operates under regulatory oversight while users retain full control of their private keys.
Its core value proposition is bridging the gap between crypto and everyday banking: users get a French IBAN for salary deposits and SEPA transfers, a debit card for payments, and can directly swap between euros and crypto. Unlike custodial exchanges, Deblock does not hold user funds—assets stay in a self-custodial wallet, and the company claims it cannot freeze or block them.
A key pain point it addresses is the fragmentation of financial services: previously, users needed separate accounts for banking, crypto exchange, and card payments, often with slow and costly transfers between them. Deblock consolidates these into one compliant platform.
In the past six months (Feb–Aug 2026), Deblock reached $100 million in deposits for its on-chain savings vaults powered by Morpho, which offer around 3.7% yield on euro stablecoins—outperforming the French Livret A rate of 1.7%. It also launched a new crypto card product and expanded its user base to several hundred thousand accounts across France, Italy, and the Pacific region.
One negative development within two years: some users reported that certain advertised features, such as direct crypto sending to external wallets, were not fully available at launch, and support response times were slow in some cases. These are operational issues rather than security incidents.
Major progress in the past six months: In March 2026, launched a 4% current account where euros auto-convert into EURCV stablecoin (issued by Société Générale-Forge), powered by the Morpho protocol. In July, on-chain savings vaults (Morpho-powered fixed/variable rate vaults) surpassed $100M in deposits within a year of launch, with the EURCV vault holding €74M at ~3.7% yield. In September, launched built-in insurance for all customers (underwritten by XCover), with Standard including purchase protection and Premium adding travel and car rental insurance. Additionally, the planned $BLOCK token was cancelled indefinitely.
Future focus: Goal to reach $1B in deposits "as quickly as possible," with new products expected by year-end; positioning as "the first on-chain bank," exploring European expansion into Spain and Germany; has obtained the French MiCA license.
