About Daylight
Daylight is a blockchain-based distributed energy protocol that allows users to connect home energy devices such as thermostats, batteries, electric vehicles, and solar inverters to its app and earn rewards by participating in energy sharing. It also provides an energy upgrade marketplace, helping users install solar panels, heat pumps, and other equipment and connect them to the network. Its core competitiveness lies in building a decentralized energy network, leveraging the DePIN concept and the DayFi protocol to turn electricity into an on-chain asset, enabling direct interaction between energy production and consumption. The market pain point is that the traditional centralized grid faces enormous pressure amid AI development and electrification acceleration, while a distributed energy network can improve grid reliability and reduce user costs. In the past six months, Daylight has continued operating its network and advancing the testing and promotion of the DayFi protocol, but no major developments have been announced.
Founded in 2022 by three energy-industry veterans, the company raised $4 million in seed funding that year.
In July 2024, Daylight closed a $9 million Series A led by a16z Crypto, bringing total funding to $13 million; the same month it launched the first phase of its testnet, where users could earn non-transferable Lumen points by contributing devices, inviting friends, and other actions, validating the feasibility of putting distributed energy data and capacity on-chain.
In October 2025, Daylight raised $75 million ($15 million equity plus $60 million project financing) and launched DayFi, a protocol designed to turn electricity into an on-chain digital commodity, connecting DeFi capital with real-world power infrastructure and advancing virtual power plants and decentralized grids.
In March 2026, Daylight partnered with Centrifuge to tokenize infrastructure yields from home solar and battery systems, using ERC-7540 for async settlement and extending DeFi infrastructure to energy RWA.
Earlier, the company raised $75M and launched DayFi, linking energy infrastructure with onchain financing. Its roadmap focuses on scaling Energy Subscription, deploying distributed solar+storage assets, aggregating grid participation, and building a decentralized energy network where real electricity cash flows generate onchain yields.
