About DAWN
DAWN is a decentralized wireless broadband network that enables individuals or small operators to provide internet access by deploying dedicated hardware (such as Black Box), using blockchain technology for bandwidth verification and incentive distribution. It addresses issues of traditional ISP monopoly, insufficient coverage, and opaque pricing, allowing network participants to earn directly. Its core competitiveness lies in hardware-based deployment and the Proof of Backhaul verification mechanism, ensuring network quality. In the past six months, DAWN launched a network explorer and deployer dashboard, making it easier for users to view coverage and earnings; it also expanded hardware deployments, with a growing number of covered households, and advanced integration tests with existing ISPs. However, expansion is slow due to hardware costs and installation requirements, and regulatory policies in different regions remain uncertain.
DAWN completed a $2.5 million funding round with participation from VanEck Ventures and others.
It then completed a $13 million Series B round led by Polychain.
Tools for Humanity acquired Dawn Wallet.
