About Credit Coop

Credit Coop is an on-chain credit protocol that lets Web3 companies borrow against future revenue streams. Its core mechanism is the Spigot smart contract, which automatically redirects a borrower's incoming cash flow to repay lenders. Depositors provide USDC and earn yield from loan interest.

The main pain point it addresses is the lack of flexible, transparent credit for crypto-native businesses that have predictable revenue but lack traditional collateral. Instead of locking up assets, borrowers pledge future income, which is programmatically captured.

Its competitive edge lies in the automated repayment mechanism, reducing reliance on borrower goodwill, and the transparent, on-chain nature of loan performance. However, the protocol carries significant risks. Independent reviews rate it C+ (elevated risk), noting the novel smart contract design has limited battle-testing, borrower revenues are highly correlated with crypto market conditions, and there is no insurance protection. TVL is modest at around $5-7 million, making it a small player compared to traditional finance or larger DeFi lenders.

Over the past six months (March to September 2026), the protocol has not shown major growth or notable updates based on available public information. Its scale remains small, and no significant improvements to its risk profile or adoption metrics were observed during this period.

Updated: Sep 4, 2026

Key progress in the past six months (Mar-Sep 2026): Credit Coop surpassed $2B in cumulative onchain lending volume with zero defaults, a 10x increase from $200M ten months earlier (). Its onchain lending model with Visa has financed over $2.5B in cumulative settlement volume, processing 3,000+ borrowing and 9,000+ repayment events with zero defaults; borrowing costs fell by up to 30%, and annualized stablecoin card settlement volume exceeded $20B (). Largest customer Rain borrowed about $1.3B; Karta used its onchain settlement track record to secure $140M in financing in June 2026 ().

Future focus: advance a just-in-time funding model where Visa’s daily settlement files directly trigger same-day disbursements matching net settlement amounts, making settlement files serve both credit assessment and capital allocation; use the Spigot contract for automated repayment and revolving credit, positioning verifiable onchain records as a stepping stone to traditional credit.
