About Bron Wallet
Bron Wallet is a non-custodial crypto wallet that uses multi-party computation (MPC) to split a private key into three shards, held by the user, Bron, and a third-party service. Any two shards can authorize a transaction, eliminating single points of failure.
Its core strengths are self-custody with institutional-grade security. The MPC code is open-sourced and audited by independent firms like Trail of Bits, Cure53, and CertiK. Features include seedless recovery via trusted guardians, hidden wallets behind secret PINs, inheritance tools, time-locks for sensitive actions, and a transparent event log.
It addresses common market pain points: lost seed phrases, private key theft, and lack of recovery options. By removing seed phrases and enabling social recovery, it reduces user error while maintaining user control.
In the past six months (March–September 2026), Bron open-sourced its core MPC library (announced April 16, 2026) to allow public security review, and completed independent audits. No significant negative events were reported in this period, though the open-source move was clarified as not implying 'open control' — user keys remain protected.
Bron Wallet was founded by Dmitry Tokarev, founder of Copper.co, bringing institutional-grade custody security to personal self-custody. Its core innovation is a three-shard MPC architecture: the private key is never created in one piece, but split across the user's device, Bron's servers, and an independent third party (Qrypt). Any two shards can collaborate to sign, eliminating single points of failure.
In April 2026, Bron open-sourced its MPC core under Apache 2.0, inviting global security researchers to audit it, supported by a bug bounty program. It had previously passed independent audits by Trail of Bits, Cure53, and CertiK.
Another milestone is the Digital Inheritance feature: users can nominate successors who, after guardian verification and a mandatory six-month security delay, can inherit assets — solving the long-standing problem that blockchains have no concept of death, and filling the estate-planning gap in self-custody.
Bron Wallet (non-custodial) made notable progress in H1 2026.
In April, it open-sourced its core MPC cryptography library (bron-crypto) under Apache 2.0, enabling external audits and community contributions. In June, it partnered with Noah, a global stablecoin payments provider, to integrate on/off-ramp services in over 70 countries, allowing users to directly buy/sell crypto with fiat while maintaining self-custody.
In July, security firm zkSecurity disclosed four zero-day vulnerabilities in bron-crypto (including one that could freeze funds), all patched before public disclosure. This reinforced Bron's commitment to security.
Future roadmap: Bron aims to expand its MPC-based key management (3-shard system) to more consumer applications, enhance the open protocol for cross-chain intents (allowing other wallets to join), and strengthen partnerships with regulated entities to broaden fiat gateways globally. The team emphasizes continuous security hardening and transparent audits.
