About Breakout
Breakout is a social prediction market on Base whose underlying is the attention of crypto influencers: it ranks a set of accounts weekly by follower change, users go long or short on whether an account will rise or fall next week, and a Monday snapshot settles automatically through an oracle.
It targets an asset class that is hard to price, where follower growth is public data that nobody had turned into a tradable contract. Design details include one market per subject, platform-paid gas, a 1% trading fee, and a Privy self-custodial wallet that accepts bridged funds from Solana. The risk is the underlying: ranking shifts are easily manipulated by bought followers or a single news cycle, settlement depends on which accounts the platform selects, and access is limited to non-US users.
Breakout launched on Base on January 27, 2026, introducing weekly prediction markets for Crypto Twitter creator mindshare. The platform's first markets opened with $30,000+ in seeded liquidity, allowing non-US users to trade binary yes/no positions on whether top-20 KOLs' social influence would rise or fall week-over-week. This marked the first structured, rules-based market formalizing social attention as a tradable asset class onchain, with automated weekly snapshots and transparent settlement. Its decision to launch exclusively outside the US, while leveraging Base's low fees and gas abstraction, signaled a regulatory-conscious approach to prediction markets—distinguishing it from US-focused platforms and positioning it as a global, compliance-first experiment in InfoFi.
Breakout went live on Base on January 27, 2026, launching weekly prediction markets centered on crypto creators' social mindshare. Each week the platform ranks the top 20 crypto KOL accounts on X and lets users take positions on whether a given account's mindshare will rise, stay flat, or fall over the next seven days; contracts settle automatically every Monday against a public leaderboard snapshot
Future strategy and roadmap: Trading is fully onchain, with Breakout covering gas fees and charging a 1% transaction fee. The dApp supports Solana wallet connections with automatic asset bridging and is open to non-US users. By formalizing attention as a recurring, rules-based market, Breakout turned an informal social narrative into a tradable signal.
