Details

BSD is a Bitcoin synthetic dollar, a digital stablecoin collateralized by Bitcoin, built on the Stacks blockchain using sBTC as programmable collateral. Users lock sBTC in smart contracts to mint BSD with a loan-to-value ratio up to ~91%, maintaining a minimum collateral ratio of 110%. Loans have no fixed term and can be repaid anytime; interest rates are user-set and determine redemption priority. The protocol maintains a soft peg to the USD via arbitrage: when BSD trades below $1, it can be redeemed for sBTC; when above $1, users are incentivized to mint and sell BSD. Liquidations are handled by the Stability Pool, which transfers collateral to providers. It is an over-collateralized lending model without centralized custody.
