About Atlas
Atlas is a blockchain oracle network supported by CoinMarketCap (CMC). Its core business is providing high-frequency, verifiable price feeds for DeFi protocols, dApps, and institutional users across multiple chains such as BNB Chain and opBNB. Unlike standardized oracles, Atlas emphasizes configurability at the protocol level, allowing projects to customize aggregation methods (e.g., median, TWAP, VWAP), data staleness thresholds, and update frequencies. It directly leverages CMC's first-party data, aggregating from over 905 sources, and uses a proprietary Consensus Score mechanism to assess data reliability based on availability, agreement, and trading volume support. This design enables robust outlier filtering and price discovery, especially for long-tail and newly listed assets. The main market pain point Atlas addresses is the lack of transparency and customization in traditional oracle solutions, which often rely on opaque third-party data and cannot adapt to specific protocol risk models. By making data sources transparent and feeds configurable, Atlas helps lending, derivatives, and stablecoin protocols reduce risks from inaccurate or manipulated prices. In the past six months (March to September 2026), Atlas has been in a transition period taking over services from Binance Oracle, which began on May 6, 2026, with a planned 90-day migration. It has completed integrations with major BNB Chain protocols, including Venus Protocol and Lista DAO, demonstrating operational readiness. However, projects that fail to migrate within the 90-day window risk service interruptions, data unavailability, or update delays. This migration is a service-layer replacement, not an automatic token migration, and projects need to verify contract addresses, data sources, and fallback mechanisms.
In the past six months (2026-03-01 to 2026-09-01), Atlas, the decentralized oracle network backed by CoinMarketCap, announced a major migration from Binance Oracle to its own infrastructure, with a 90-day transition period starting 2026-05-06. It went live with Venus Protocol and Lista DAO on BNB Chain, delivering configurable first-party price feeds. Atlas also rolled out support for ERC-8056 (Scaled UI Amount standard), enabling oracle services for tokenized real-world assets and equity-style instruments. Its proprietary Consensus Score mechanism provides live reliability ratings for each price feed. Future focus includes expanding configurable feed adoption, deepening first-party data aggregation across 900+ sources, and extending ERC-8056 coverage to more protocols and asset classes, while maintaining transparent and customizable risk parameters.
