About Aragon

Aragon is a modular platform for onchain governance and DAO management. Its core product, Aragon OSx, lets organizations manage assets, permissions, and voting through pluggable modules.

Core strengths: (1) Confidential Voting plugin using Zama's fully homomorphic encryption — individual votes stay encrypted during voting, only the final tally is revealed after the vote ends, preventing vote-buying and herd effects; (2) Programmable access control with granular permissions, staged approvals, timelocks, and vetoes; (3) ENS-native onchain profiles that let users control privacy while keeping identities portable across apps.

Pain points addressed: traditional token voting exposes voter choices, enabling manipulation and strategic voting; DAO permission management is often coarse and insecure; and identity systems are fragmented across platforms.

Recent developments (Mar–Sep 2026): deployed on Hemi Network (Bitcoin security + Ethereum programmability) in June; launched ENS-native onchain profiles in June; deployed on Monad in July; and introduced the Confidential Voting plugin with Zama FHE in September. Aragon also warned about rising malicious governance attacks on token-voting systems, highlighting the need for more secure voting mechanisms.

Updated: Sep 12, 2026

In its development of decentralized governance, Aragon launched the BORG framework to support modular on-chain organizational governance, enabling more flexible structures for DAOs.

Aragon also introduced gas-free on-chain voting, reducing participation barriers and improving efficiency and inclusivity in governance processes.

Updated: Sep 5, 2026

Positive factors:

In July 2026, Pepper DAO migrated to the Aragon platform for more transparent onchain voting; Aragon partnered with Interfold to launch a confidential onchain voting testnet, publicly praised by Vitalik Buterin. The second phase of Katana vKAT Armory expanded the veTokenomics model with Aragon's support, and the ANT Colony Web3 RPG created gamified utility for ANT.

Negative factors:

In June 2026, a Token of Power DAO built on Aragon suffered a governance exploit due to a missing timelock, resulting in a $1.58 million theft and damaging security reputation. ANT liquidity is extremely low; as of September 11, 2026, 24-hour trading volume was only about $0.12, with a price of $0.0692, and it has been delisted from multiple exchanges, leaving the trading market nearly dried up.
