About ArDrive
ArDrive is a permanent data storage application built on the Arweave network. It offers one-time payment storage, meaning users pay once per upload and never face recurring fees or account deletion. The core value proposition is true data ownership: files are end-to-end encrypted, stored across a decentralized network, and accessible only by the user's private key. This solves the pain points of traditional cloud storage, such as subscription fatigue, account inactivity policies, and platform-controlled data access.
In the past six months (2026-03-12 to 2026-09-12), ArDrive has focused on improving onboarding through its Turbo service, which supports fiat payments and streamlined uploads, reducing the friction of crypto-native token management. The project also maintains open-source repositories and continues to develop the ArFS file system layer for folder structures, version tracking, and metadata management. A notable negative aspect is that permanent storage is irreversible: files cannot be deleted, making it unsuitable for data requiring compliance with right-to-erasure regulations. Additionally, key management remains a user responsibility, and losing keys means losing access permanently.
