Akave

Akave (L2 storage chain) made significant progress from March to September 2026. In March, it announced a $6.65M raise and launched Akave Cloud, an S3-compatible decentralized storage platform with zero egress fees and on-chain verification, targeting AI/analytics workloads. In May, it shipped major engineering upgrades: O3 v1.6.x introduced a reworked multipart upload architecture (PartedStore/PartedFile), improved internal DB indexing, in-memory metadata caching, and stronger AWS-compatible IAM enforcement; protocol v0.5.x delivered transaction loop v2 for handling zombie/undelivered blockchain transactions, striped erasure coding, streaming encryption/decryption, and experimental Upload2/Download2 pipelines. In February, it integrated with Akash Network to create the first sovereign AI infrastructure stack, combining decentralized GPU compute (70-85% lower cost) with verifiable storage. Future roadmap focuses on: productionizing Upload2/Download2 streaming pipelines, adaptive erasure coding, smarter transfer scheduling, expanded IAM policy management (tenant/project scoping, credential lifecycle), improved PDP dataset visibility and repair workflows, and further scaling storage node networks for enterprise-grade AI workloads.
