About Alex
ALEX is a DeFi protocol for the Bitcoin ecosystem built on Stacks, with settlement anchored to Bitcoin and contracts secured by Stacks' proof-of-transfer consensus. Trading combines an AMM with an order book: a matching engine runs limit orders off chain and settles fills on chain, while pools use a generalised mean market maker whose parameters let volatile assets track a constant-product curve and stable pairs track a constant-sum curve. Lending uses ayToken, a forward contract on repayment at maturity, so lenders and borrowers lock a fixed rate and maturity at execution with no interim liquidation.
Products cover swaps, liquidity mining, a launchpad and fixed-rate lending, serving Stacks projects, BRC-20 holders and market makers who need known funding costs; unlike Ethereum DEXs, assets are priced in bitcoin and cross layers through XLink. In June 2026 the DAO approved ending emissions with buybacks and burns, the LISA product was wound down, and staking and mining emissions fell to zero from late October, moving the protocol from subsidy to fee revenue.
Buyback and burn: On June 1 a DAO vote with 91% support passed the end-of-emissions and buyback-burn proposal; by October 5, 75.19M ALEX had been burned, 8.2% of supply, using 1.01M STX (70% of the allocation), cutting total supply to 916.82M.
Incentives end: Staking and farming emissions fall to zero from cycle 409 in late October with no further issuance; LISA is winding down, LiALEX redemptions stay open, and a second LiALEX buyback route awaits DAO approval.
Alex has implemented a strategic shift from an inflationary to a deflationary token model over the past six months, based on the governance proposal approved in May. This adjustment directed unclaimed treasury funds toward market buybacks to reduce supply and support token value, with the project releasing multiple reports that reflect the steady increase in buyback deployment from lower to higher proportions.
According to the latest progress, Alex has permanently burned 75,189,652 ALEX tokens, with the treasury fund deployment ratio reaching 70%. This process ensures transparency in fund usage, as all operations are recorded through on-chain events that can be independently verified by anyone.
Alex's buyback and burn mechanism will continue to be executed according to the approved governance plan, with the remaining treasury allocation funds continuing to be used to purchase ALEX on the open market and permanently burn them. Subsequently, the surplus portion of protocol revenue after covering essential operating costs will also be invested in this plan to maintain long-term deflationary pressure. The mechanism's design includes strict on-chain restrictions, such as per-transaction limits, the ability to only buy and burn without transfer, and the option for the DAO to pause or recall funds at any time, ensuring operational security and controllability. The project plans to release periodic progress reports so that community members can track execution status and remaining fund conditions. These measures collectively form the foundation of Alex's transition from emission-driven to value-accumulation-driven operations.
