About 8004scan

8004scan is an explorer built for AI agents operating on the ERC-8004 standard. It serves as a discovery and analytics platform where users can browse registered agents, view their on-chain activity, submit feedback, and track performance leaderboards. The platform also provides developer tools for registering new agents and monitoring their adoption.

Its core value proposition lies in making the agent economy transparent and navigable. Traditional blockchain explorers are designed for human transactions or token transfers, not for agent-native activity. 8004scan fills this gap by offering a dedicated layer for discovering agents, assessing their trustworthiness through on-chain reputation, and understanding network-wide patterns. It is built on ERC-8004's three registries: identity (ERC-721 based), reputation (feedback with off-chain scoring), and validation (TEE attestations, zkML proofs, staking).

Over the past six months (March to September 2026), the ecosystem has grown significantly. As of the latest data, over 492,000 agents are registered, with more than 563,000 feedback submissions and 450,000+ unique wallets. The network spans 29 chains, with BNB Smart Chain leading in registrations, Base in feedback activity, and Ethereum serving as the registration hub. However, a notable concern is that only about 2.24% of agents pass A2A/MCP health checks, meaning most registered agents do not yet offer verifiable, usable services. In January 2026, the ERC-8004 v2.0 specification was released, introducing a flexible feedback value system (replacing the fixed 0-100 score) that supports negative values, decimal precision, and custom rating scales. The platform's stated next-phase focus is shifting from raw registration counts toward infrastructure-grade agents that are healthy, discoverable, payable, and reliably callable by other agents.

ERC-8004, the trustless agent identity standard, was finalized in August 2025, authored by Marco De Rossi (MetaMask), Davide Crapis (Ethereum Foundation), Jordan Ellis (Google), and Erik Reppel (Coinbase).

The core registry contracts were deployed on Ethereum mainnet on January 29, 2026, following early commitments from ENS, EigenLayer, The Graph, and Taiko. Within weeks, over 20,000 agents registered across Ethereum, Base, and BNB Chain, marking the first significant wave of adoption.

The v2 roadmap introduces standardized x402 payment-proof schemas and deeper MCP integration, aiming to incorporate cryptographic payment history into reputation signals, converging the commerce and trust layers.
