The Thailand SEC has not yet received a formal application for a spot cryptocurrency ETF
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Thailand stated that although several asset management institutions have consulted about Bitcoin and Ethereum spot ETFs, no formal applications have been received yet, and it cannot confirm whether related products can be listed in 2026. The new framework that takes effect on October 16 allows licensed asset management companies to establish passive ETFs that track a single qualified asset, currently covering Bitcoin and Ethereum.
According to the framework, the annual average net exposure of related products must allocate at least 80% to the tracked assets and can only be traded on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, using SEC-approved digital asset custodians, and securities companies are not allowed to provide margin financing. After the product is listed, retail investors can participate, but they must complete risk education and acknowledge the related risks.
