Atkins: More SEC cryptocurrency regulatory proposals are on the way

Atkins stated that the current custody provisions of the Investment Advisers Act and the Investment Company Act predate the birth of the internet, and the custody capabilities for new assets often lag behind by several months after they go live. The SEC's proposed custody rules aim to fill this gap.

Atkins also compiled the current SEC's cryptocurrency regulatory initiatives, including ending "regulation by enforcement," arrangements related to tokenized securities, the proposed framework for Regulation Crypto Assets issuance, and "innovation exemptions," stating that more regulatory proposals are on the way.
