Salman Avestimehr is the Co-founder and CEO of FedML. He is a renowned expert in the fields of machine learning, federated/decentralized learning, information theory, security/privacy, and blockchain systems, with more than 20 years of R&D leadership experience both in academia and industry. He was the inaugural director of the USC-Amazon Center on Trustworthy Machine Learning at the University of Southern California, and has held advisory positions at multiple tech companies, including Amazon/Alexa-AI. Salman is the recipient of a US Presidential award for his significant contributions to information technology, and is a Fellow of the IEEE. He earned his PhD from UC Berkeley/EECS in 2008.
