Dan Boneh is a Senior Research Advisor at a16z crypto. He leads the Applied Cryptography Group at Stanford University and co-directs the Computer Security Laboratory. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Princeton University. Dan's research focuses on the applications of cryptography in computer security, including cryptographic systems with novel properties, cybersecurity, mobile device security, and cryptanalysis. He has received the RSA Mathematics Award, the 2013 Gödel Prize, and the 2014 ACM Prize for "breakthrough contributions to the development of pairing-based cryptography". In 2016, he was elected to the National Academy of Engineering.
