About Hyli
Hyli (formerly Hylé) was founded in early 2024 by Sylve Chevet and Lancelot de Ferrière le Vayer as a proof-based Layer 1. In January 2024, it raised ~$800K pre-seed; on May 14, 2024, it closed a $3.4M seed round led by Framework Ventures, with participation from StarkWare, Ledger co-founder Nicolas Bacca, and Succinct Labs co-founder Uma Roy.
On May 14, 2025, the project rebranded from Hylé to Hyli. On June 16, 2025, it launched a Mars-themed testnet showcasing apps built on SP1, RISC-0, and Noir proof systems. In early 2026, a private mainnet went live, using the Autobahn consensus with multiple concurrent proposers for horizontal scaling.
On March 27, 2026, v0.15.0 was released as the final version. On June 10, 2026, the team announced shutdown, citing market changes and insufficient demand for ZK infrastructure. The codebase remains open-source for research or forking.
Long-term significance: Hyli validated the technical feasibility of proof-aggregation L1s; its Autobahn consensus and native multi-prover verification design offer reference for future projects.
Hyli, a proof-based L1 focused on privacy and compliance, ceased operations in September 2026 after a two-year run. The team announced on X that weak market demand for zero-knowledge technology left no viable path to mainnet launch, despite completing core infrastructure including a full-node client, Autobahn BFT consensus, and ZK smart contract support. The project raised $3.4 million and open-sourced all code on GitHub. Prior to shutdown, Hyli shipped multiple releases enhancing proof storage (GCS over PG), Noir transaction parsing, and modular ZK execution supporting multiple proof systems. The team positioned Hyli as settlement infrastructure for regulated stablecoins and tokenized assets, emphasizing selective disclosure and auditability. No future roadmap was published; engineers are available for hire and the codebase remains accessible for builders.
