According to The Block, Astria Network "intended to cease" operations at block height 15,360,577 on Monday. The project was launched in 2023 and built on the Celestia data availability layer, aiming to be a modular decentralized sequencer for Layer 2 networks.
Astria had completed a $5.5 million seed round in 2023 and secured $12.5 million in strategic funding in 2024. However, the project has recently faced multiple setbacks, including halting the development of Flame EVM, an unexpected shutdown of the early testnet, shutting down Celestia validators, and the withdrawal of its only major integrated application, the Astria Bridging Protocol.
